Wings and Wildflowers: An invitation to wonder.

This year, I’ll be exploring two themes that have always fascinated me and have been my inspiration over the last 9 years: Wings and Wildflowers. They’re symbols of beauty, transformation, and the gentle reminders nature offers when we slow down enough to notice. I hope to gather stories, reflections, and sparks of creativity around these themes—like petals pressed between the pages of a journal—so that together we can find more wonder in the everyday.

Today, wonder found me in the colour yellow.

A bright yellow car pulled up beside me on the way to work at the traffic lights. Walking my normal 10-minute route to work after parking, a woman in a fresh yellow summer dress walked into my building.

At lunchtime, I walked a different way and walked past a burst of yellow flowers swaying in the breeze. And then, at a café, I ordered my Chai Latte and laughed out loud as Sonia handed me a yellow polka dot library cup. It was as if yellow was following me, whispering: Notice me. Pay attention. There’s magic here.

When I got home, I wasn't surprised to see a yellow butterfly, as I often do; it's a sign to me that my Dad is not far away.

"Ok Dad, I know you’re here and Yes I noticed all the yellow today. Thank you." I sat down to check my diary. I should have known. It's 10 years today, since my Dad got his angel wings.

Yellow is the colour of joy, light, and clarity. It asks us to open our eyes, to greet the world with warmth, and to find brightness even in small, fleeting moments. When we notice patterns like this, it’s as though the universe is winking at us—reminding us that life is constantly weaving meaning, even in the ordinary.

Through Wings and Wildflowers, I’ll be sharing stories of creativity, travel, and transformation. We’ll explore how nature inspires my imagination, how writing becomes a pathway to growth, and how small wonders—like the colour yellow showing up again and again—can shift the way we see our days.

This is the beginning of a series that will explore the intersection of creative travel journals, insights on writing and creativity, nature as muse, transformation and personal growth, the stories behind my art and books, and reflections on wonder and everyday magic.

May these words be little wings, little wildflowers, and little sparks of light for your own journey.
